Who qualifies

• Nationwide class: any person who resides in the United States and used the TikTok app before September 30, 2021.
• Illinois subclass: any person who resides in Illinois and used the TikTok app in Illinois to create videos before September 30, 2021 — this group received a substantially larger share under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
• Roughly 89 million U.S. TikTok users fell within the class definition, including minors, whose claims could be filed by a parent or guardian.
• You filed a valid claim by the March 1, 2022 deadline — the settlement is closed to new claims, so eligibility now only matters for people who already filed.

TikTok settlement payout status — what happens now

   The claim deadline closed on March 1, 2022

   To share in the $92 million fund you had to submit a claim by March 1, 2022. That window is closed and no new claims are accepted. Ignore any website claiming there is a 'second chance' to file in 2025 — that is a myth spread by spam sites, and the official administrator confirms the case is closed.

   The court gave final approval and the appeal was dismissed

   Judge John Z. Lee granted final approval on July 28, 2022, and entered final judgment on August 22, 2022. A single appeal to the Seventh Circuit was dismissed on October 12, 2022, which made the settlement effective and cleared the way for payments.

   Payments went out starting October 26, 2022

   The administrator, Angeion Group, distributed payments by check or prepaid card beginning October 26, 2022. Because the overall claims rate was low, actual amounts came in higher than early estimates — about $27.84 for nationwide members and up to $167.04 for Illinois subclass members.

   A small supplemental check went out in late 2025

   After uncashed checks, refunds, and adjustments, a second sweep of leftover funds was distributed in late 2025. These top-up checks were very small — some as low as $0.91. As of 2026 the fund is fully distributed and nothing further is pending.

   This is not the FTC children's privacy case

   Don't confuse this settlement with United States v. ByteDance, the FTC and Department of Justice lawsuit filed in August 2024 over collecting children's data in violation of COPPA. That is a government enforcement case seeking penalties — it has no claim form and pays nothing to TikTok users.
