How we verify settlements

A $1.4 million proposed settlement addresses allegations that Waste Connections entities imposed rate increases and fuel surcharges without a contractual basis. Eligible U.S. customers who arranged for or received solid-waste collection services during the covered period must submit a valid claim to receive a payment. Residential customers and several other service categories are excluded. The defendants deny wrongdoing.

Submit online or mail a completed claim postmarked by October 22, 2026. Payments are equal shares of the net fund per approved claim, with no fixed individual amount confirmed. The court has scheduled a final approval hearing for December 7, 2026; payments depend on approval and the settlement becoming effective.

Who qualifies

  • The class covers persons and entities that arranged for or received solid-waste collection services in the United States from a Waste Connections entity during the period beginning August 13, 2018 and ending on the settlement’s Effective Date. The official materials do not give a fixed calendar date for that end point.
  • Residential customers, homeowners’ associations and customers served under HOA agreements, temporary roll-off customers, and customers in rate-regulated markets are excluded.
  • Also excluded are customers under municipal or other governmental franchise agreements without their own individual service agreement; customers with a binding class-action waiver; the brokers listed in agreement Exhibit F and their covered customers; specified company-related parties; and the presiding judge, court staff and immediate families. Check the complete official exclusions before claiming.

How to file a Waste Connections settlement claim

  1. 1

    Check your service and contract

Confirm the service address is in the United States, the service falls in the covered period, and none of the residential, HOA, franchise, waiver, broker or other exclusions applies. The paper form asks an authorized representative to certify the entity’s eligibility.

  2. 2

Gather your notice and service information

Online filing requires the Unique ID and PIN on your postcard. If it is missing, contact the official administrator at 1-877-239-3277. The paper form requests the entity name, representative and contact information, service address, eligibility certification, signature and date. Additional supporting information may be requested.

  3. 3

    Submit by October 22

Use the official claim portal or mail the signed paper form postmarked by October 22, 2026 to Pinnacle v. Waste Connections Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 5800, Portland, OR 97228-5800. No exact online cutoff or timezone was established in the reviewed filing materials. The paper form directs customers with multiple eligible service addresses to file online.

  4. 4

    Keep your records current

Save the submitted form or online confirmation and report address changes to the administrator. Approved payments are mailed checks and expire after 90 days. ClaimBee is an independent reference; the official administrator handles claims and eligibility decisions.

Frequently asked questions

How much will I receive?

No fixed amount is confirmed. Agreement section IV distributes the net fund in equal shares per approved claim. The $1.4 million gross fund is reduced by court-approved fees and expenses, any service award, notice and administration costs, taxes and other approved costs.

Can I claim for more than one location?

Agreement paragraph 10 permits a claim for each distinct service address, but no more than one claim for the same address regardless of account count. If both a qualifying broker or agent and its customer claim for one address, the party that contracted directly with Waste Connections has priority. The current paper form tells multiple-address claimants to use the website.

Is this available to residential customers?

No. Residential customers are expressly excluded, as are HOAs and customers served under HOA agreements. Other exclusions also apply; having paid Waste Connections alone is not sufficient.

Do I need invoices to submit the paper form?

The two-page form asks for claimant and service-address information, an eligibility checkbox, and a signed and dated declaration under penalty of perjury. It does not list a universal invoice-attachment requirement, but the administrator may request additional information or documents. Online filing requires the postcard ID and PIN.

Is the settlement finally approved?

The official website lists a final approval hearing on December 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. Approval and the settlement becoming effective are still conditions for payment; the hearing is not a promised payment date.

What happens if I do nothing?

The official notice says class members who do not claim receive no payment but can remain bound by the release. The October 7 exclusion and objection deadlines listed by the administrator have passed. Read the official documents or consult your own lawyer about individual rights.
